ROCKY HILL, Connecticut – Governor Ned Lamont joined leaders from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and the Connecticut Tourism Board on Monday to discuss some of the successes of the summer tourist season and to promote a new campaign for the coming fall season. .

Despite the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lamont’s team said they were satisfied with the results of the summer of 2021. Unsurprisingly, the figures have increased compared to 2020, according to Christine Castonguay, interim director of tourism for the State of Connecticut.

“We have seen an increase in bookings at our overnight accommodations,” she said. “We saw an increase in attendance at all of our attractions and events statewide were well attended.”

Lamont added that as the fall foliage season approaches, Visit Connecticut will embark on a new marketing campaign called “Full Color Connecticut.”

“We are marketing this state with a budget of $ 24 million over the next two years, tripling what we have done in the past,” Lamont said.
