ELKINS – Next week will meet the Elkins Planning Commission and the Elkins Tree Council. The council meets on Thursday. B&O tax returns are due today.

Meeting virtually Tuesday at 5 p.m., the planning commission will consider applications for a vacant seat. The commission’s recommendation will be forwarded to the board, which has the power of appointment.

The Tree Council meets Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Darden House (next to City Hall) to plan workshops, volunteer days and activities for this year’s Tree Day.

Council meets Thursday at 7:00 p.m. The agenda, which can be adjusted until Tuesday, currently includes the review of the out-of-town traffic light law; consideration of a request to abandon an unopened driveway behind the new Riverview Apartments (formerly Allegheny Apartments); a change in Board rules regarding the order of business of meetings; and a grant application from the Elkins Police Department to fund body-worn and vehicle-mounted cameras. The Clerk will provide an update on progress toward the goals set by Council in its 2018-2023 Strategic Plan, and the Chief Water System Operator will report.

Fourth quarter Business and Occupational (B&O) tax returns, as well as annual returns (for companies that file annually instead of quarterly), are due today.

All meetings are open to the public and, unless otherwise noted, held at Elkins City Call (401 Davis Avenue). Find agendas and other meeting information here: www.cityofelkinswv.com/council-and-committee-meetings.
