“Epic Day” campaign launched in South Kootenay – Rossland News

A Great Trail initiative encourages residents to explore their own backyards and share your own epic day.

The “Your Epic Day” campaign is being launched by the Tourism Committee of the Lower Columbia Community Development Team Society (LCCDTS), as part of an ongoing effort to raise awareness and support tourism in the South Kootenay region.

The regional marketing campaign will promote, educate and measure the value of tourism to our communities, our businesses and the people who live and work here.

“Your Epic Day campaign is a fantastic collaboration of our regional tourism stakeholders and our marketers who work together to raise awareness among local citizens about the positive economic impact of tourism on our region”, Erik Kalacis, Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the LCCDTS and executive director of the community. Futures said in a statement. “South Kootenay is an often overlooked destination, so there is plenty of room for growth. “

The campaign will solicit and highlight tourist experience routes and stories from locals on how to have an ‘epic day’ in the South Kootenay communities of Rossland, Warfield, Trail, Montrose, Fruitvale and the areas A and B.

Whether it’s a hike to Antenna Hill, fly fishing in the Columbia, or paddle boarding on Champion Lakes, The Great Trail Company Awards will be awarded to the best stories and routes from the best day. of all time created by the inhabitants. Anyone can register and there is no cost to participate.

Local businesses and stakeholders support and reward attendees with prizes ranging from gift cards, hotel stays, movie passes to locally made artwork, and any prize that showcases what our region has to offer.

“Our local tourism ecosystem is actually rich and offers a diverse range of tourism products, attractions and experiences, serving both passing tourists and locals,” Kalacis said. “The goal of this campaign is to grow our tourism economy and support businesses that depend on income from tourism. These businesses and experiences also deserve to be promoted and celebrated by our locals. So please everyone, imagine your itinerary for your Epic Day and participate!

LCCDTS is a not-for-profit corporation that advances the economic strength of the Lower Columbia / South Kootenay region by overseeing the cooperative development and implementation of initiatives of importance to the region.

The campaign will be amplified on social media, print ads and postcards sent to all residents, blogs, email newsletters and through the website www.southkootenay.ca/EpicDay.

The citizens of South Kootenay are also invited to rate the value they place on regional tourism at www.southkootenay.ca/EpicDay and become eligible to win a fabulous prize from one of the region’s contributors.

The results of this campaign will be communicated in the new year.

The LCCDTS tourism committee works under the auspices of the Company and includes representation from a cross-section of tourism players and businesses in the region, including hotels, restaurants, operators, the Charles Bailey Theater, the Trail Museum & Archives at Riverfront Center, The Trail & District Chamber of Commerce, Community Futures Grand Sentier and Tourism Rossland.
