Galgorm expands luxury outdoor accommodation offering with new £ 10million investment


Galgorm today announced plans to create a suite of new thermal spa and accommodation options within its 380-acre estate in County Antrim, which is part of a £ 10million investment that will create up to 50 new hospitality jobs over the next two years.

This new investment marks the first phase of a £ 30million project to expand and improve the resort and spa facilities by 2027 and is Galgorm Collection’s latest move to secure the resort’s position as as a world-class international tourist destination, having already invested £ 60 million since 2010.

In addition to the expansion of the complex, Galgorm Collection has also pledged to roll out an enhanced benefit package for all eligible team members, including a £ 1million investment in healthcare coverage from premium private health care over the next five years as part of its commitment to invest in its people.

The announcement was welcomed by Economy Minister Gordon Lyons during a recent visit to the resort: “I warmly welcome Galgorm’s expansion plans to increase its visitor capacity and provide an exciting new travel experience . Colin Johnston, Managing Director of Galgorm Collection, explained: “Over many years, we have invested heavily to make Galgorm an award-winning international and world-class tourist destination, and we remain firmly focused on investment and innovation. to secure our global position. This latest £ 10million project will see up to 50 additional accommodation units added to the resort over the next two years, increasing our workforce and expanding the domain’s footprint.

New for 2021 is the addition of a range of tailor-made shepherd’s huts, the first of which is now open to customers wishing to spend a unique stay in the great outdoors. Representing an investment of £ 2.5million, the area is set for further expansion, housing up to 18 huts by summer 2022.

Nestled deep in the newly created ‘Secret Prairie’, the one-bed huts are equipped with all modern comforts, including a stove and mini-kitchen with hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, kettle, grill -bread and coffee machine for a comfortable wood retreat. Each cabin comes with its own outdoor bath and fireplace on the terrace, perfect for discovering the healing and restorative benefits of the surrounding forest.

Developing its existing Cottage Suites, work will begin on a £ 2.5million project to add 23 new high-quality one-bed cottages. Intelligently designed with everything guests need for a comfortable stay, the Cottage Suites are located within the serene grounds of the resort and provide luxurious seclusion while being close to the main resort.

Plans are also in place to add five magical treetop huts in the middle of the forest, with the first opening next year for an investment of £ 1.5million.

“There has been a real increase in demand for outdoor experiences and activities, as restaurateurs and visitors alike seek a connection with nature and the great outdoors. We are excited to expand our offering in this space with the launch of a suite of unique accommodation types and a host of new outdoor activities at the resort. From falconry fishing to cycling, hiking, clay pigeon shooting and horseback riding, guests can now enjoy a different stay, but with the same premier luxury and hospitality for which Galgorm is famous, ”added Colin.

The award-winning Thermal Spa Village will expand another two acres in a £ 2.5million project to add new hot and cold outdoor experiences, a second outdoor riverside pool to further expand the experience authentic Irish spa in a stunning woodland setting.

A further £ 100,000 has also been invested in a brand new spa suite. Featuring its own Jacuzzi, sauna and private spa access, the suite offers breathtaking views of the Maine River and offers guests their own slice of serenity for the ultimate relaxing getaway.

The Linen Merchants is the latest addition to the resort’s residence which offers accommodation for up to 10 people, as well as a private outdoor hot tub, private garden with barbecue, two living rooms and a spacious kitchen; the perfect option for a family reunion.
