Yates County Tourism Advisory Committee Accepts Funding Applications

The Tourism Advisory Committee is seeking applications for funding through the Yates County Occupancy Tax, a 4% occupancy tax program implemented to promote, develop and protect the tourism industry in the area.

The grant program has found it important to establish programs to promote and support the creation of activities that increase occupancy in the Yates County accommodation sector.

The TAC was created to advise the Yates County Legislature and is made up of local tourism professionals. It examines the funding requests submitted by tourism agencies for the next fiscal year. They are responsible for making the final funding recommendation to the county legislature.

The deadline for applications is August 20 at 4 p.m. and available on request and at the Yates County Chamber of Commerce in Penn Yan.

Last year, the recipients included the Yates County Chamber of Commerce (the county tourism promotion agency), the Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance, the Finger Lakes Wine Region, the Keuka Lake Wine Trail, the Finger Lakes Museum and Garces Design.
